St Paul’s Junior Soccer team kick triumphant goals
The Years 5/6 Mixed Soccer team from St Paul’s Anglican Grammar School is poised to put their skills to the test at the School Sport Victoria (SSV) State Championships.
The team had a victorious win at the Gippsland Region Championships in Sale that qualified the students for the State Championships. Despite missing three players due to unforeseen circumstances, the team was undeterred and performed admirably, defeating St Thomas 5-0; Inverloch 3-0; drawing with St Michael’s 3-3; and triumphing over Gippsland Grammar 8-1.
The St Paul’s winning goal difference of +15 solidified the team’s qualification for the SSV State Championships, which will take place on 30 August at the Darebin International Sports Centre.
Physical Education and Sport teacher Mr Paul Boraston is appreciative of the support provided by parents and extremely proud of the students. “I would like to thank the parents who travelled down to assist on the day (especially Andrew Box who coached the team so well) and congratulate the players on being the first St Paul’s Junior Soccer team to reach the State Championships”, he said.
